About Me

I am a clinical psychologist with over 15 years experience. I understand that part of being human entails going through experiences that leave us feeling vulnerable and unsettled, often with a shattered sense of trust and hope in the world and others. Dealing with these feelings and anxiety on your own is no easy task, and although the decision to begin seeing a psychologist is not an easy one, entering a therapy relationship provides a safe space, where together a journey can be embarked upon as a way of finding meaning and bringing about change. Therapy also aims to understand and shift the unconscious repetitive choices, patterns and behaviours that result in unfavourable outcomes. I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, but the therapy process is always tailored to meet the individual’s needs. I facilitate the courageous process of bringing about change in order to create space for new and healthier experiences.. In essence, I understand therapy to be an investment in one’s self and one’s future Prior to qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, I obtained qualifications in Speech and Hearing Therapy and Social Work. In terms of individual adult therapy, I deal with a range of issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, adjustment, life transitions, grief and loss , trauma as well as relationship difficulties. I also work with difficulties that stem from childhood with a focus on making links to bring about change in order to participate in life in a fuller, more authentic way. I offer parent-infant psychotherapy, promoting the parent-child attachment as well as psychology sessions for children who are dealing with various issues eg separation anxiety, medical anxiety and a variety of behavioural issues. Understanding young children’s behaviour, communication and the dynamics of family relationships in order to facilitate change. I also provide perinatal counselling, which includes fertility difficulties, pregnancy related issues, preparation for childbirth, processing difficult or traumatic experiences related to childbirth. I also help women and couples who are faced with fetal anomalies during pregnancy or diagnoses of genetic conditions in early childhood. I provide counselling for the devastating experience of miscarriage and loss and I also offer counselling for postnatal challenges including the transition into parenthood. I draw on parent-infant psychotherapy to assist parents who are experiencing various difficulties in relation to their babies, aiming to promote the parent-child attachment and support the baby's development. I am a member of the Antenatal & Postnatal Psychology Network. My approach is warm and it is very important to me to develop a good, authentic therapeutic relationship with my clients in order to do the work.
