About Me
I am a Registered Psychologist in private practice who works with adults and teens from diverse cultural backgrounds experiencing a variety of mental health and personal concerns. I have a special interest in working with people affected by trauma, adults with ADHD, especially those diagnosed in adulthood, as well as clients with interpersonal and relationship problems. In addition to these special interests, I have experience working with various other mental health diagnoses, including mood and anxiety disorders, insomnia, grief and loss, eating disorders, career change, stress and burnout, communication problems, and abuse. Having briefly studied medicine before finally entering my professional psychology training, I maintain a keen interest in how physical health affects our mental health, including the effects of medication, nutrition, sleep, hormones, pain, and chronic illness on our mental health, and reciprocally, how the brain and mental illness affects our bodies. I eclectically incorporate various treatment models to support clients in both short- and long-term treatment. My therapeutic style is influenced by modern psychodynamic approaches, however I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Metacognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and values-based work. I use my down-to-earth style to connect authentically with my clients. I find that building a mutually trusting, collaborative relationship with clients is one of the most important factors in therapy outcomes, so I dedicate time to understanding each client and their individual circumstances. I believe strongly that it is the relationship between therapist and client that heals, as it provides the basis for the therapeutically corrective experience, and my process-oriented approach to therapy reflects this.
