About me

I’m Karen, a registered psychologist with over eight years’ experience across government, disability services, not-for-profit organisations, and private practice. I offer a warm, structured, and practical therapy space, and I work from a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, strengths-based framework.

My style is collaborative and transparent. You can expect me to ask thoughtful questions, check in about what feels helpful, and explain the “why” behind strategies so you can make informed choices about your care. Sessions are paced to your nervous system and capacity—gentle and supportive where needed, and direct when clarity will help. I value consent, choice, and a strong therapeutic relationship, because feeling safe and understood is often the foundation for meaningful change.

Many people come to therapy after feeling misunderstood, judged, or “missed” in healthcare settings. I’m mindful of how common (and painful) that can be, and I aim to offer a respectful, non-pathologising space where your experiences make sense in context. Together, we can build self-understanding, self-compassion, and practical skills for everyday life—such as emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, and sustainable routines—so progress feels achievable and lasting.

I have lived experience of ADHD and autism, which supports a nuanced understanding of neurodivergent presentation across the lifespan, including masking, burnout, sensory needs, and identity. My trauma-informed approach also considers the impact of chronic stress and complex trauma, and prioritises safety and stabilisation alongside growth.

Appointments are available via telehealth Australia-wide, with face-to-face sessions in the Central Goldfields area (Victoria) available as capacity allows.
