About Me

Shannon McCarthy (she/her) is a registered psychologist and Educational and Developmental Psychology Registrar. She has experience providing psychological services to young people across a range of contexts, including home, primary and secondary school, and clinical settings. She values working collaboratively with young people, their families, teachers, and other professionals. Shannon utilises a person-centred and strengths-based approach, while implementing evidence-based therapeutic frameworks such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She is an ANZAED Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician and utilises a Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-e) framework to support adolescents and young people with current or emerging eating disorders. Shannon is passionate about providing neurodiversity affirming and trauma-informed care to young people. She creates a safe and supportive space for young people to be their authentic selves.
