About me
Hi, I’m Kubra. I am a Clinical Psychologist working with adults aged 18 and over. I mainly see people in person at my Thornbury consulting rooms, and also offer Telehealth appointments for those who find it easier to meet online.
What is it like to work with me? I see therapy as a space where you can come as you are, without needing to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. I bring warmth, curiosity and humanness to my work. I want therapy to feel natural and conversational. I like to make jokes (whether or not they’re actually funny), use everyday language, and take a laid-back approach. When words don’t quite capture what you’re trying to say, we might draw things out, map ideas or use simple visuals to help us explore things more deeply and build understanding.
I work with people experiencing depression and low mood, anxiety, OCD, panic, fears and phobias, emotional difficulties and challenges with distress tolerance. I also support people navigating perfectionism, self-esteem, identity, relationship difficulties, work and study concerns, life transitions, grief and loss, trauma and other difficult experiences. I work with autistic and ADHD folks, as well as people managing health-related challenges and significant changes in their lives.
Depending on what brings you to therapy, I may draw from evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I like to adapt the way I work to you, your needs and what feels most useful as we go.
For me, who we are together in the room matters. I want you to feel listened to, respected and able to be yourself, while also feeling gently challenged when it might be helpful. Our work will generally be guided by your goals and values, with space to understand things at a deeper level, develop practical skills and put new insights into practice.
I welcome people of all backgrounds, cultures, genders, sexualities and abilities, and strive to create a space that feels safe, inclusive and welcoming.
